We live in a quick-fix world where people are looking for easy solutions to complex problems. The advent of most improvement efforts brings a painfully predictable wave of human resistance. As wide-ranging as the reasons are for resisting change, the various forms of resistance share one element in common: The people who are fighting the change are rational. They’ve thought about the change effort, measured the costs against the benefits, and have come to believe that the new methods will make matters worse for them, not better.
Poorly executed projects and stalled change efforts are typically not caused by faulty strategies, processes, systems or structures. Our consulting focuses on the human side of change that makes change inevitable and resistance futile: we focus on persistent problem behaviours, such as a lack of accountability, turf wars and not stepping up to problems in the face of authority.
